We actually had a 'snow day' on Friday....It got so cold (15 - I know, a walk in the park in Chicago)that the pipes froze and they had to turn off the gas, so no heat....thus no school...

But it's back to 'normal' now... Cool

Should be great weather for the 'Hit-a-thon' and Home run derby this Saturday to benefit the shooting victims here in Tucson....
When I was in Kentucky we used to get several snow days because if someone turned on their water hose and sprayed the road we were out. But since I've moved to North Carolina we have had maybe 3 in the three years I've been here. I truly don't miss them at all. I guess this goes back to that maturing thing people talk about. I would rather come to work and get it over with so I don't have to make it up over the summer.

Shoveling was easy. I didn't mind because it's exercise. Now I'm excercised out and I have tendonitis in my elbow. Thankfully it rained last night. It was supposed to be three more inches.
Probably not a good story here but still brings a smile to my face. One year in Kentucky we got hammered overnight with snow and school was cancelled. My standing rule is that on snow days we would meet at the gym at 1 PM to practice unless they hear different. Our school system was pretty aggressive in calling off school so vast majority of time it was safe to have practice.

This was one time the roads were too bad. I started calling the guys and have them call each other to cancel practice. I knew I had everyone notified not to show up but I went out to school just in case. As I'm pulling into the parking lot there are three trucks in the parking lot doing donuts. Yep - all three were my guys. I pulled up to them in my truck and asked if they got the message. They said yeah they got the message but they knew this would be the best place to do donuts. So for the next half hour all four of our trucks were doing donuts in the parking lot.
