Kid is a 2011 RHP throws a tailing fastball 88-89 with great off speed stuff. PG evaluated him as a level "8" last year. Had a good H.S. season; 7-2, 2.39 ERA 50 k's to 25 walks in 45 innings. Good student hanging on to a 3.0. He is on a solid summer team but the summer team has 7 talented PO's. He is signed up for a few showcases (GA Dugout, Under Armour Team 1 and PG) He will play in PG Events as well as college showcase events. We have emailed his website and updated stats with his summer schedule to 40-50 schools in the southeast. we know that he cannot be called until July 1st of this year. We have had some "we really want him" discussions with some D-2's, and the typical emails from some D-1's but want to make sure we keep our options open for other programs. Heres the qustion;(Sorry for the long intro but i thought it was important). If and when the offers come in I have heard that these schools want decisions right away. How will we know when we have heard from all of the "serious" schools and can make the decision? And, what can we say to the ones that may push so we can evaluate all of our options and dont offend the program or risk losing an offer? Thanks in advance for the advice!!

Those schools that are the most interested will become very obvious. The more of them that show serious interest the better for your son. You will never know for sure when you have heard from "all" the "serious" schools unless you are willing to wait for the late signing period. Sounds like that might not be necessary.

Be as honest as possible with them. However that doesn't mean telling them everything you're thinking, spilling the beans, and closing some doors along the way.

My guess is that your son already has a list of schools, or at least one or two, that he is very interested in. I would be contacting them ahead of time.

Best of luck
There's always a little bit of uncertainty when it comes to how serious a school might be. Think of it this way: that college coach is juggling far more prospects for his program than he can actually accommodate. He wants to keep juggling all of these players until he can grab on to the ones who eventually sign. Unfortunately, all of the other kids he was juggling fall by the wayside.

You're doing the right thing by contacting a good number of schools. Just try to keep the lines of communication open with them, provide them with updates to your schedule and stats, and provide them with a skills video upon request. Express genuine interest in every coach that contacts you. At some point, you'll need to make a decision, and hopefully you'll have multiple options from which to choose.

If a coach is really pushing you to make a decision, you can always tell the coach that it would be tough to commit without seeing the campus and meeting the staff, so maybe you buy yourself some time and score an official visit.

Hope that this information proves helpful. I'm sure others will chime in with additional insights.
