Three sons left home and went out on their own. Getting back together, they discussed the gifts they were able to give their elderly mother. Kevin built her a big house. Brent sent her a Mercedes. But Jordan knew how much his mom enjoyed the Bible, but she could not see very well. So, he sent her a brown parrot that could recite the entire Bible. It took 20 monks 12 years to teach him. Jordan had to pledge $100,000 a year for 10 years in payment. Mom just had to name the chapter and verse and the parrot would recite it. After receiving these gifts, the mom sent out her letters of thanks. She told Kevin that the house he had built was so huge that she lived in only one of the rooms but still had to clean the whole house. She told Brent that she is too old to travel and she stays at home all the time so she never used the Mercedes. She wrote the following to her third son. "Dearest Jordan. Your really know what your mother likes. That chicken was delicious".
PS - my 86 y.o. mom sent this note to me in a birthday card. The old bird still has it.
