Well, I think its late enough in the season see if we can pick out some of the most notable things in the country. To begin, it looks like the Lee Vining, Ca. scorer gets the sharpest pencil individual batting average award for one of their players who was 47-57 for an .825 average. But that scorer can’t hold a candle to JFK, Warren, Oh. scorer for the sharpest pencil team batting average award. While the Lee Vining team batting average was a healthy .448, The JFK scorer managed to get the team to .499!

Here’s some other examples of fine baseball. 98 RBIs for an individual and 432 for a team. Or how about the team ERA of 0.00, where they gave up 159 runs, but none were earned! The individual award goes to the lad with the ERA of 0.00. He gave up 54 runs, but luckily none were earned!

I've been to Lee Vining and can assure you that it is not a populous area. They may indeed have a player with such an exalted batting average, because when very small schools play each other, a single talented kid really stands out.

A quick perusal of the school website reveals that they have 5 teachers. I especially liked to see the travel itinerary for their third league game of the season-- a double header for which the team left the school at 2PM on Wednesday, and according to the calendar, planned to arrive at Baker at 9:30PM, and finally be back home at midnight on Thursday. The calendar has the reminder: "School Friday".
