Heard great things about the stadium and the owner of the club down there.

I was long ago promised a job with that team if it ever came to fruition, by my friend Mike Dean. Sadly, Mike passed away before he got to see all his hard work put to use.
But it should be a heck of a deal down there. Some people are still skeptical that the area can support a minor-league franchise, but if the Cardinals are smart, they become the affiliate and watch the money roll in.

They are doing some really good things and people are excited. They got off to a good start by naming the team the "Miners". Alot of people were pulling for a name that represented that industry in the south and they did a great job in their choice. One of our ex-players is an account exec. and also just got hired as bullpen coach for them. He just told me today that we got the OK to play there when they are on the road. The owner is from Alton and owns a few other minor leagur teams in the east. They are by all accounts good people and have brought pro baseball to this area, but have also donated millions of dollars to SIU also.
