There's a sliding scale. A kid throwing upper 90's has more tolerable parents than the kid hitting 90.
RJM is right - there is a sliding scale.
But since most of us don't live in the best part of that scale, the message is a good one. There are enough kids like our sons in the regular part of the scale that should make it clear that you, as a parent, don't wanna separate yourself (and your son) in a negative way.
If you don't see it now, you will later - it is so darn easy to tell which parents at a HS game are the pitcher's parents and its also easy to tell which ones are the parents of the stud SS/OFer/Catcher. The coaches and scouts will know...and they will notice the behavior one way or the other.
Definitely a sliding scale at SOME schools. I know one that'll let you bring your probation officer to be your roommate if you throw hard enough. ;-)
