My 2014 son threw a perfect game in a tournament Friday night. It was very exciting - only 74 pitches and 8 strike outs (7 inning game). Good solid defense behind him helped. Funny how everyone realized by the 6th inning but no one said it. We were all holding our breath until the last out. Then the next day he catches for 2 games - still threw out runners too.

How often does does a perfect game happen in HS? Funny thing is, he loves pitching and catching.

bballfan95...Great job on the PG! What a great accomplishment at such a young age.

I agree with JH, having your son catch the following day was a bad decision, one that his coach should have made, no matter how many pitches he trough. If anything, he should go to first base where he is not required to throw to much.

Most times, at this young age, the pitchers are usually the better athletes and can play all positions well. His arm health is the most important thing right now. Perfect games, no hitters and complete games are not going to matter. Getting to the next level and staying healthy should be his and your priority, since his coach doesn't seem to care.

I see/hear of kids getting Tommy John, Labrum and other surgeries right out of high school. Not good.

Again, congratulations to your son!
