This weekend, my son committed to play baseball at the United States Air Force Academy. It's amazing that this was his choice, considering that they weren't even on the radar. Son is a 2015 1st Baseman/LHP. Happy for him, and extremely proud of his decision.

Thanks Lefthook! My son really loves Coach Kaz, and he had a great time on his visit. I was proud of him for making a great decision on life, and truthfully it is a relief to my wife & I, because he will be getting a world class education without going into debt.
Congratulations,
You clearly very proud as you should be. What a great decision for a young man to make.
Thanks Bishop! It seems weird, because baseball was always the goal, but this is a great life decision for him.
That's tremendous! Congratulations to him!!

Thanks all! As far as finding him, we are pretty sure it was at the PG WWBA this summer in East Cobb. They came to every game.
Congratulations! All the best to you and your family.
Much more than just baseball, very nice!
Congratulations!
I read on this site about the Air Force Academy doing studies on hand-eye coordination and reaction times. The athletes are the test subjects! How cool is that!
Here is a more recent article than the one I originally read:

We were able try some of these tests on the visit. I have a feeling that they could help a great deal.
Thanks everyone! I am not going to lie. The monetary situation played a huge part in this. The fact that our son can get. Worldclass education, and be guaranteed a good paying job upon completion of his undergraduate degree, was huge. The people we met were also great, and it really felt like a big family. Also, if anyone is familiar with Coach Kaz, he is electric! My son loves him...
Congrat's rynoattack and Jr. I remember listening to a game last year at my sons future school. All the announcers could talk about was the athleticism and physical condition of the Air Force team. They also spoke of how they conducted themselves on the field. Very impressive! Good luck to your son. My son(LHP) will be a junior when ryno jr is a freshman. Maybe they will face each other.

Thanks, and that would be sweet. Hopefully, he will help them be more competitive.
That's great. Do they cover all costs? Does he have a military commitment after, how long?
Well I know I asked some pointed questions, just curious, you don't need to answer, just sounds very exciting.
In my son's HS class we had a girl go to Naval Acad,(basketball) red shirt first year, five year plan, leaves with masters degree, no cost to family, has six commitment to navy afterwards,
Congratulations!! This is awsome news!

Yes. When you enter the Academy, you are a cadet first, and an athlete second. Everything is paid for, and they receive a stipend too. As far as his military commitment, his wI'll be five years.
