The other day I was at a High School game in Salem, NH for their opening day. Radar gun at hand I clocked the starting pitcher at 82-86 mph the entire game. Thinking he was a Senior headed to a nice Division I school, I talked to the coach to get some more info. Come to find out the kid is 15 and a sophomore. Doesn't turn 16 till August. I was amazed at his maturity. And supposedly so are colleges. Uconn, BC, URI, East Carolina, Miami, and Virginia have all shown a supposed interest. No one can talk to the kid until July 1st, but I'd be willing to bet his name will be pretty big soon.

so not to confuse anyone or be labeled a thread hijacker by dad04 I removed my thread. my point was simply stating that its rare but not unheard of
to have a sophomore sitting 85-86 and hitting 88 on the stalker. my son is there now and getting interest early. so dad04 I do not need to hijack anyones thread but I will be a good sport.
Very rare for a NH pitcher to be 90 +. They are few and far between. 82-86 for a sophomore is pretty darn good for up here though. And the mileage on the arm is usually far less then an equivalent arm from the warmer states too.

I'm figuring he is talking about the Welch kid from Manchester West. I saw him pitch last year. Good sized kid with a heavy fastball. He could develop into a kid who sits 89-92 someday.
