I'm a sophomore at a small school in Kansas- about 400 kids. I was wondering about the steps I need to take to get some exposure. What can I do now and what can I plan on doing Junior and Senior year? I'm in a small town situation and don't have unlimited funds.

P.S. I plan to start Centerfield and Pitch some on Varsity. I would prefer to go to college playing OF.

Welcome to the HSBBW! Smile As jbbaseball said, there is a lot more to this site than just the messageboard! Take a look at the homepage. Especially the links on Recruiting Tips.

My suggestions as a sophomore is to work at your HS grades/GPA as well as your baseball skills! This is very important! You will greatly increase your chances of playing at the next level with a solid GPA to go with your talent on the field. Also start planning to take the SAT/ACT tests. With recruiting happening junior year, players that already have good SAT/ACT scores put themselves ahead of other players with similar skills. Give yourself enough time to prep for the tests and take them several times to ensure the highest score you can achieve. Lastly as a sophomore, I suggest you start researching colleges and making a list of what you are looking for in a school and baseball program. Things like: distance from home, size of campus, types of majors, average GPA of freshman students, baseball conference, coaching staff, roster size, players in your position, etc. etc. etc. There are literally thousands of great programs out there, but not all are going to fit your baseball and academic skills. If you do all of this by the time you are a junior you will be WAY ahead of your competition! Good Luck! Come back and post any questions you have. We are all here to help! Cool
