I truly believe that this loss by Alabama will be for the betterment of the whole college game. This will allow Boise State and TCU to move up and probably stay there. Regardless of what you think about their schedule those two deserve a shot at the championship.

This way if they still don't get a chance it will throw the whole country in uproar over how they screwed over these two teams.

If they get a chance they can either win and prove they deserved it or compete and show they deserved it or get blown out and prove they aren't that good.

I'm a firm believer in giving Boise State and / or TCU a chance. It either proves they are worthy or it proves they aren't. Decide it on the field.
For that to happen, Ohio State, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Auburn, Arizona and Michigan State would ALL have to lose at least 1 game. I don't see that happening. And by the end 1 or more from this group will move ahead of either TCU or Boise on schedule strength. The more likely scenario is about 4-5 undefeated team this year from that group of 9 mentioned above.
The only thing about that coach that bothers me is the fact they dont have to go through what these other teams do to get there. Look at the level of competition they play week in and week out compared to these other teams. If Boise State and TCU want to run with the big boys they need to play a big boy schedule. That means after you beat a Va Tech you have to show up the next week and play someone. And then while your still banged up play someone the next week. That simply is not even close to being the case. While I think they both can play with anyone on a given day I dont believe they could every week like these other school have to.

Alabama was a victim of their schedule today. They played Arkansas in a battle of a game. Got sky high for Florida and hammered them. Then had to travel the next week to play So Carolina on the road. Its apples to oranges as far as I am concerned.

This may be the year several teams are undefeated at the end of the season. Ohio State? Boise State? TCU? Nebraska or Oklahoma? What happens then? Ohio State will be number 1 when the new poll comes out. If an undefeated Nebraska is sitting there at the end of the year and Boise State and TCU are undefeated does one of them jump Nebraska? Or OU? If so the s**t will hit the fan and maybe thats a good thing. Maybe then we will finally get a playoff.
Sadly I agree with both of you guys on everything you said. Those things are probably what will happen.

I have to defend Boise State in their schedule. I'm not saying they have a tough one at all because it is extremely weak. But the big schools don't want to play them. They might agree to playing them at home or on a neutral field but no way will they play on the smurf turf.

Then you get what happens to VA Tech game. They beat what was being billed as a very good ACC team and then VA Tech loses to a DI AA (or whatever they call them now). That's just bad luck.

There are way too many variables that need to play out in order to determine a true national championship with the way it is. With an 11 game schedule there will never be enough time to determine all those variables.
Arizona is about to get beat. I dont see anyway Auburn runs the table in the SEC. Oklahoma and Nebraska will play so one of them is going to lose. I dont see Ohio State losing. Mich State does not play Ohio State but they are still a long shot to go unbeaten. Oregon has a great chance imo to go unbeaten.

So I think Boise State , TCU , Oregon , Ohio State , along with OU or Nebraska will be undefeated at the end of the year.

I dont want to make Big Ten fans angry but Ohio State has benefitted greatly in the past few years by playing in a weak league. No way they make so many NC appearances if they play in a tougher league from top to bottom. This might be another one of those years.

Agree with that if you drop OU. Big Grin
TCU knows they will always be on the outside looking in...that's why they are talking to the Big East. Boise's in a worst conference than TCU. If you want to be part of the big boy NC, you have to play in a big boy conference. Those are the (un)written rules.

That does not make me angry because it is a fact. Ohio State is still Ohio State however regardless of the overall strength of the Big 10. I don't see Ohio State beating an SEC school this year.

I think Nebraska is a fine addition to the Big 10.
I hope they do give Turner some time to get his program in place. So, on KSU...help me a bit. Is KSU a really slow team this year or is Nebraska that fast. I thought I heard somewhere that KSU has the slowest team Snyder's ever had. I'm trying to project what Saturday's matchup with the Horns will look like. I hear they are fast on D.
