Ha, I just caught that. The Inquirer sure loves The Prep, don't they? Once again, Bonner gets no respect.
The Prep is the Notre Dame of Philadelphia high school sports rankings. They get the benefit of the doubt until they fall down regardless of last year's record.

A few years ago the Inquirer ran a very large front page center article on how The Prep breeds men. My son had a few friends attend Prep. They stopped being friends. My son would tell you The Prep breeds arrogance.
I am just happy when someone writes something...I don't think anyone who has followed the teams and kids thinks O'brien watches much baseball, he probably relies on what parents and coaches send into him. As far off as he may be with a couple of the rankings, he looks like a baseball guru compared to some of the things wrote in Perfect Games "Northeast High School Preview" and they are supose to have a clue.

FWIW - Here is my top 15

1. CR South (not sure they are the best team, but it's tought to be undefeated)
2. Malvern Prep
3. Germantown Academy
4. Boyertown
5. Methacton
6. North Penn
7. LaSalle
8. Downingtown East
9. Marple- Newtown
10. WC Rustin
11. Penn Charter
12. Neumann-Goretti
13. Hatboro-Horsham
14. Conestoga
15. CB South

I hope I didn't forget anyone...I would like to hear other's opinions.
NP can't argue with your rankings because of the difference in conferences and not having the chance to se every team it is hard to rank teams. The continental conference is a very balanced conference you have three teams in your top 15 and you do not have CB West in your top 15 and right now they are tied for Horsham for first place. I think Horsham may have the deepest pitching overall but that is not as important as having two aces with a high school schedule. They are deep with good hitters 1-9...they could come out of the conference on top and this conference has done pretty well in the playoffs over the past few years.

Should be a fun season to watch!
I left out CBW because I heard they lost their #2 pitcher for the yearand I thought 4 teams from one league would show my bias. They should be able to play with anyone when Martens pitches, not sure after that against top teams. It wouldn't shock me if any of the teams won...very balanced. Looks like CBE, Q-town, Pennridge and Souderton can beat anyone on a given day too.

"How do you know about those things? Did you live on the trail?"

Did I live on the trail? Nope, but I did live in a single wide trailer when I graduated from college. It was nestled in along Antelope Creek north of Medford,OR. It would routinely get well over 110°F inside during the day. I spent a lot of time on the State Forestry compound in the evenings following work just to give that oven masquerading as a trailer time to cool off. It would cool off enough around 10:00pm or so. Goodtimes!

And this interpretive center now graces what I remember being a landfill during my high school years in West Linn,OR.

It was built decades after I had graduated and is located across the Willamette River from my high school alma mater. Goodtimes!

And Fort Clatsop, the western terminus of the Lewis & Clark Expedition in the early 1800's, was built on the Oregon Coast about 40 or 50 miles north of the town of Tillamook ("The land of cheese, trees, and ocean breeze") where I was born. Goodtimes!

I know, I know...TMI! But you asked Antz!

"Did he live on the trail?"......"No, I think he wandered off the trail. Goodtimes!"

No, that I leads into my TMI story. Monday evening was Opera Night at a local trattoria. Between arias, a mom and her daughter were seated next to our table. We made small talk. Turned out, they had just flown in from Oregon, to visit Haverford College. The girl was wearing a grey sweatshirt, with the word Medford, in blue and orange, across the front.
Antz ... It's weird you mentioned this. I watched Don Giovanni last night. What restaurant? Are the singers decent? When I lived in SF there were a couple of restaurants (same owner) where the servers sang opera. I now live a few towns over from Medford. Except where I am it's pronounced Medfid.

It's a good thing that you kept the conversation to small talk because that's about all us rubes from Oregon can handle.

And I'm sure that the mom and her daughter were a little nervous...being in a foreign trattoria and all. I hope they were not so clumsy as to knock over those arias they were seated next to. The wait staff really hates that I know. They were seated next to you? I really hope they weren't sitting on the floor...or worse yet, stretched out. Wink

Seriously...Medford,OR is a beautiful area. Located in the Rogue River valley and surrounded in all directions by mountains it boasts of top quality fruit production and a burgeoning number of growing in acclaim vineyards and wineries. Goodtimes!

Medford, OR

Yeah, take the 'r' out and save it for a word that ends in 'a'.

The restaurant is called Fellini's Cafe. It's in Media, right off the Blue Route, near the courthouse. Same set up- the servers sing. They're pros. "Divas a la carte". Food was good too. Big portions. I'm not big on Italian (too much garlic and onions for me) but I did fine. Crowd was a good mix, and they play up to it. You don't have to sit on your hands, or dress up. It's byob and it looked like everyone there b'd.

I usually don't have any idea what they're singing about, so I asked our server to explain her songs before she sang. And she did.

My neighbor's mom (or sister, according to who you are talking to) owns Victor Cafe in Philly. That's been around forever. Now, they're pretty much using voice students from local schools, but it's still quite an experience. It's a little more dressy and usually more hardcore opera patrons.

woody- did you ever sing opera?

When it comes to tracking mud into the house, and trying to avoid all of the yelling and screaming, it's always best to 'go for broke' and inundate the whole place. Most wives won't know where to start.

A woman friend of mine helped with this beauty shown above. My wife didn't blow her stack, but my lady friend sure did. St.Helen let it all fly! The mud is just deep enough in the kitchen so the microwave on the counter top can't be opened. Now that's 'going for broke'!

"That's remarkable that you never get in trouble. Can you teach me?"......"Not a problem...just find a lady willing to admit she's a fiery, nervous, and anxious stratovolcano. Badger her a bit and she'll let loose!"

At The Met there are screens with subtitles on the back of the seat in front. I guess that's what the $100+ admission gets you. Do the servers run out with the food when singing Die Valkyrie? Then again, that's Wagner. It would have to be German food. I wonder if the songs sung are limited to Vivaldi and Verdi?

I read the history of the Suburban League. Pretty interesting. I have a first cousin who is 82 years old. He played in the super six, 1946, 47. Remembers the whole thing. I'll have to show him this.
We have a few former Suburban League parents here.... Dad43 - Hatboro-Horsham, me - Wissahickon, philsfan - CB North, Macboys8 - Upper Moreland, Jimmy Smith (player) from North Penn used to ask questions. NP13's son is at North Penn. There's another North Penn parent here (can't remember the name).

Thanks. A copy of the PM comes into email. I must have accidently tried to reply via email which won't work. I was interested in Saverio. I'm guessing LaSalle wasn't interested. Probably didn't want dad around.

La Salle is losing a bunch of Seniors and a couple of Juniors to the draft...quite a few slots will be up for grabs by underclassmen.
