If Great Bridge loses it will be when Connor Jones is not pitching.  But the team that will beat them is going to be a Hickory, Western Branch, or Grassfield team that plays fundamentally sound baseball.  Maybe you haven't been following the first half of the season, but Nansemond River is anything but fundamentally sound.  They've got more than 30 errors halfway through the season.  Rice threw 2 innings tonight and was not at his best against a very good team.  However, you can't make fielding errors that allow baseballs to roll to the fence leading to 3 base runners scoring (including the batter) or throwing errors that allow runners to score all the way from first base against an undefeated team like Great Bridge and expect to win.

This team has yet to beat anyone with a winning record, so I wouldn't think that they would be the team to beat Great Bridge without Jones on the mound.

GB / NR Game:

Go Dawgs with an accurate recap of the game.

8 walks, 3 errors, 2 HBP, 5 pitchers.....just seemed like most of the pitchers and defensive players were struggling to find their rhythm and the errors that were committed were very, very costly.  At least 7 of the 19 runs were unearned.

Defensive play of the game: the NR RF made an outstanding catch reaching over the fence to rob a HR from a GB hitter.  Haven't seen a play like that in a while.

I think it was a good game over all, didn't like the walks and the simple errors that were made, very impressed with Harrelson, with the changes he made after the first inning. I knew it would be a hitting game. But I will have to wait for the next game and I know that one will be a better game then the first one, great job GB.

The GB pitcher - Harrelson- maintained strong showing on the mound.  5 2/3 innings, maintaining complete composure after a tough 1st inning. Worked in a few K's, some grounders, and fly balls throughout the game to allow the GB offense to do its job.

I guess you were not at the game, the ball that when to the field in center field took a bad bounce that almost took the head of the fielder off, and no other player scored from first base, GB played a great game, but I will wait for the next which will be a better game.
