Southeastern District Games: March 12-16 (Week 1)

Got some good games right off the bat! GBvsIR should be a good one, then again Thursday IR @ NR.  Indian River is a very scrapy team. Week 3 is were the action picks up, you'll have GB@WB that tuesday, then WB@NR at the end of the week. Those are tough games heading into spring break. I'm excited that I get to sit back and finally watch a game as a fan and not inside the fence like the last 5 years. Plus I don't have to listen to PARENTS bash other PARENTS and their KIDS!!!!!!

with a 50 percent chance of rain tuesday next week may be intersting especially if the fields aren't ready Wednesday!

if it does rain on tuesday, isn't the rule...to play the game on next available date? And why are some teams playing Tues/Thurs and others play Tues/Fri. I feel like more games should be played on Saturday if a game gets postponed due to weather.

yea but there is a 3 game week the next week!like i know indian river has ring dance next friday!western branch has prom later in the season on a friday!that's why western branch and oscar smith was moved 2nd time around!

Love the optimism!  I'm reminded of the terrible 8% unemployment rate.  Which obviously means that 92% are gainfully employed!  Of course, it is never talked about that way.

Shame everyone else didn't move games up to play tomorrow afternoon.  Rain now likely all day Tuesday.

Didn't expect that score even without Hickory not having any pitching. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. Fitz throwing game one for NR not Rice. Should be interesting

Hickory and OS look very smart moving their games up a day! This may put some teams in a bind early. Anyone got information about other games today?

Just talked to someone over at NR. Said they plain on pulling tarp at 2:15. If it doesn't rain anymore, River might be able to get this thing in. Outfield may be a small pond, but nothing they haven't done before!

Actually, I think the game was moved up a day because Hickory is missing a centerfield fence. Move the Varsity game up a day to Monday. Then the JV can play on Tuesday. Both games being played at Smith this week vice the typical Varsity at one field and JV at the other. Just worked out to everyone's benefit (except maybe the JV teams). If Hickory doesn't get their fence fixed soon... may see this scenario happen again

yea I heard about their fence and your prob correct, either way sure beats opening season with back to back games.

The heavy winds last week knocked down a good portion (30-40 ft section) of the Right-Center fence...to the right of Hickory's scoreboard.

NR game has been cancelled, no new time and date have been put on game. Would think they will play tomorrow

 

sorry about missspelling but what i was trying to say was nansemond river has a game Thursday And Grassfield has a game friday so the grassfield and nansemond river game couldn't be madeup either day!

I share your inquiring nature.  Maybe we need to add communication in grammatically correct English to the board etiquette rules.   

Nansemond River will play Grassfield tomorrow @5:30 and Indian River Thursday. Sounds pretty clear to me!

Schneider complete game 1 hitter with 5 strikeouts.  Burcham with a Grand Slam in the first.  Salladay 2-4 and Burmeister 2-2.  Nansemond River gives up 7 unearned on 6 errors, but make no mistake, Grassfield dominated this game from the 1st pitch.

Reported on WB's web site:  Bud Beagle (Sr.) pitched 3 scoreless innings to pick up the win.  With WB down 5-4, Beagle hit a game-tying single in the bottom of the 6th.  Matthew Roth hit a two-out game winning single in the bottom of the 7th.
