Yes, he does. I seem to remember a lot of people criticizing his commit to Va Tech when it was reported. Funny how these things play out.

From my experience, criticism is a result of jealousy or disappointment with the lack of a commitment from their own player. I'm struck by how many will openly root against higher profile HS players (sometimes from within the same team) in order to validate their criticism.
