Rice is where he needs to be on the Bench. He would not be ready for this game. His arm is too tired...What I have heard.

Whats going on today!!!! I know Conner pitched Tuesday against GF, so he won't being throwing today, but is Zach Rice starting for NR today. It is Senior Day for those guys and it would give them the opportunity of keeping it close and having a chance to win.
Connor and Zach both threw earlier this week so not sure why anyone would expect them to pitch today. Focus should be on the other pitchers / players.

I agree with go dawg. Ever since earlier this week it's been about who's done what and when. Who should be first team who shouldn't. I would hope that in the end all posts are created by adults, and should be acting like adults. Kids do read these posts, But I guess that's doesn't matter. Hickory 6, Western Branch 5.
WB took a 5-4 lead into the bottom of the 7th but they were not able to hang on.
It was an up and down game. At the end of the 1st, Hickory was up 3-1, thanks to a Zach York 3-run homer. Eason walked 3 in the third. A single by WB's #9, combined with an error, resulted in 3 runs scoring in the top of the 4th, putting WB up 4-3. Christian Lowery hit a solo line drive home run in the bottom of the 4th to tie it. Scored stayed tied until the 6th. WB score one in the top of the 6th on a double by Grant Maiorana. Hickory did not score in the bottom of the 6th. Bergland replaced Eason on the mound in the 7th and held WB scoreless.
Understand that Robert Fitzwater threw a one-hitter.

Fitzwater pitched a complete game 2 hitter while Boone and Savage hit 2 run home runs to lead NR. NR scored all 4 runs in the third inning. Rice led off with a walk, was erased on a FC and then Boone hit the first 2 run hr. Riggs followed with a single and then Savage hit his hr. That was all the help Fitzwater needed who gave up his first hit in the 6th inning. That hit, a double by K.Mathews scored C.Cody who had walked. C.Hinkle also doubled in the 7th, but that was it.

It was a great game! I would also like to acknowledge Higgerson's play at short. He played his butt off last night. A few diving efforts, two of which went for big outs.
