I tried searching on this site and most of the information I found was rather dated.

HS coach has ties there and their coach has interest in seeing more of 2013.

Does anyone have any recent specific knowledge of the program and school? Their record and history look good, but their graduation rate isn't impressive.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I do know they have an intense rivalry with my son's school and he commented that their fans are very "intense" and passionate although using slightly different words. Two years ago they were ranked #1 in DII until late in the season when they and son's college met in a series. They are always very talented. I just don't know much about them otherwise, sorry.
BK is correct, Magnolia, Arkansas is a rather out of the way place but the current and previous staffs at SAU have been able to produce great baseball teams. In 2010 they were in the DII regional final and after that season the coach left for a DI head coaching job. One of his assistants took over this past year and they won their conference tournament and secured another NCAA bid.

They are known as a power in the Gulf South Conference though SAU and the other Arkansas DII institutions will be moving to a newly created conference, the Great South Conference, this year. That should cemement their spot as one of the best two or three teams in the league each year.
I travel to Magnolia periodically. From what I've seen there locally, they usually have players drafted every year. My son's team played them last season and had a tough time against them. He said they had a few big strong players who could hit with power. Magnolia is a small town that doesn't seem to have progressed a lot over the years. But they do have a good place to eat at The Backyard BBQ. The pecan pie with cream cheese is wonderful.
As a SW Missourah boy, I am obligated to warn you about Arkansas!

Ford has installed 'black boxes' in all of it's pick-up trucks for the past several years.
An independent study found that in 49 states, the black boxes recorded the last sound heard before crash impact as "OH, SH*T!"

In Arkansas, however, the last sound recorded was,

"Here, Earl, hold my beer and watch this!"
