This may support the previous thought that the "southern players are better" though. Like FloridaHokie said, UF didn't sign anybody from outside of FL because they simply didn't have to.

I think it still comes down to "bang for your buck". The talent pool is so deep, and the in-state costs are small enough that you can afford to make those statements. However, if UF had six of the nations top prospects wanting to come to Gator World I'll bet there would be six FL kids looking elsewhere.
I found all of the Florida school's very open to out of state players, including the school in hogtown, also known as Gainesville.

My son was 1 of 5 in his graduating class to get a solid D1 scholarship. All 5 were heavily recruited by various Florida schools and only 1 stayed home.

As PG says, if the talent is there, the interest will follow.

You are right. The coaches will still look for the best talent possible. But florida schools are in luck if a resident prospect earns 100% state paid tuition. Plus in Florida, talented top 20 in your HS class gives you more money.

There are many Florida boys who do leave the state to play elsewhere, quite a few actually. Many of these players are offered nice scholarships to lure them away from Florida, opening up opportunities for others, just as Florida schools will offer nice scholarships to those from out of state.
RZ1,
I in know way want to diss any region or player in the country.
I'm from the North, And my statements were not blinded.
Baseball is Baseball all over this country, and I was just trying to state that the South and West have an advantage with the year round good weather.
And that players who don't get the chance to Showcase everyother weekend, might let the nerves get to them.
Thinking that they blew there chance to showcase well.
I guess i'm trying to look at it from the players point of view!
Come on Shep. I live in florida and the 3- 04 hurricanes lasted a total of 30 hours. Damage took a while to take care of, but not many games or practices were lost. Sometimes just regular thunderstorms can ruin a showcase (see june 05 Ft Myers). I lived thru the great blizzard of 78 in R.I. in february. It affected games that were scheduled in april because fields were torn up and muddy. We still have over 325 days of sunshine a year and plenty of time to hone the skills of young bucks.
