One of the people mentioned in this column, Jason Flam, is one of my daughter's best friends! He is a great kid! It means a lot to him that his mother was a Sox fan, and it made his love for the Sox even stronger. He is a great kid.
Thanks for steering us to that column soxnole. It did bring back some extra special memories.
I particularly liked Freddy Garcia's dad and his reaction. That's something that I would do if I were in his shoes.
I watched the game at my mother-in law's house. She has Direct TV and just at the moment that Uribe scooped up that ball at his ankle my mother-in -law put her hand on her remote and inadvertently pressed some of the buttons. We lost the channel.
She was flustered and could not recover the channel. I grabbed the remote and was totally baffled by all of the buttons and flashing lights...no help from me. Finally she went through the proper sequence of buttons and the channel reappeared.
By that time the White Sox were celebrating on the mound...evidence that they indeed had recorded the last out and were then World Champions.
Of course I've seen replays of Uribe's splendid fielding and dart that he threw to first base for the final out but, I'm sure it isn't like seeing the real thing!
