Buster Olney on ESPN as I was driving in, regarding the Yankees soon-to-happen bidding war for Mr. Lee:"They will have a limit though, perhaps $150 million and 5 years".

That's a limit?

P.S. Dumb move of the day: MLBPA releases the names of free agents while the celebration is still going on in Texas. Can't we wait just a wee bit?

Where a team like the Yankees makes its mistakes with free agents like Lee is not in the amount per year as the economy can make yearly salaries seem cheap or expensive down the road, but in the number of years of the contract in question. Go through all contracts given to pitchers that were four years and up and the vast majority did not get full return and many were outright disasters. The Yankees of course are better equipped to survive their "mistakes" than other teams.

Yankees aren't a mom & pop operation. It's a name brand known worldwide. $150M a drop in the bucket compared to the Yankees worth and their revenue stream.

There's no need to wait. Besides, Texas lost. What do they need to celebrate for. They should've already celebrated winning the pennant.
