After knowing the IHSA playoff schedule for a month the Iggy president begged out of the Noon sectional championship tomorrow. Calling OPRF President Donna Stephens at the last possible minute Iggy's boss Father Paulson explained that the game would have to be forfeited if the time were not changed to 9:30AM. Needless to say out of town coaches and scouts arriving at Noon will be SOL when they arrive to observe a plethora of big time HS talent. (Dunigan,Dennehy,Dore,Lynch,McFolling,McInerny,OConnor,Price, Rivera etc.).Not to mention loyal relatives and fans of both teams that would have read the game times established over a month ago and have been published in most if not all city and local newspapers. It seems graduation at St. Ignatious is tomorrow afternoon. Maybe at the states arguably best academic HS the administration is something less than that. Worse, on the OPRF side Ms. Stephens must not have considered her Coaches, players or parents plans. No less than 4 people I know will now be unable to make the game. One of these is a prominent Ivy league recruiter. No way should this have happened with a months notice. What were the Iggy admin people doing (thinking) as their fine baseball team was marching toward this game? On top of everything else OPRF has an awards ceremony for the basball players tonight which will run late. Maybe a simple phone conversation with the coach or A.D. could have prevented all this. Considering the fine schools involved it appears that the students might be better served by more caring President's.Procrastination or neglect on Iggy's part and a knee jerk reaction on the OPRF side is not the answer.
