Both are accurate and have plenty of range. Pro scouts tend to use Stalkers. All of the college camps I've been to have used JUGS. The JUGS cost a bit less. In the past anecdotal evidence is that JUGS tend to read 1 or 2 mph faster than Stalkers.
Our organization has over 50 Stalker Guns. Most are the Pro Sport model used by most MLB clubs and many colleges. They retail for around a $1,000. We also have a few Jugs guns that we use whenever we need a display board read out. These come in handy when you play at a place that is hard to get good readings or not enough room for lots of scouts. Example, no seating behind home plate!
Stalker is coming out with a new less expensive model that they claim reads exactly the same as the higher priced models. Can't remember the name of that model. I was told it will retail for around $700, but don't quote me on that.
The main reason we use Stalkers is because that is what almost all pro scouts use. We want the same readings they are getting!
The only place I know of to purchase a Stalker is from Stalker. To be honest, we've had such good luck with them that we never sell them. If something goes wrong, which rarely happens, we just send the gun to them and they fix it or replace it.
Get the stalker. Dont buy a jugs. Check out ebay they had four or five last time I checked. I have a stalker pro and I have never had any problems with it at all.
