kitkat - Both of our baseball sons were recruited by Stanford.  The older one attended and played there.  Drop me a PM if you wanna get more detail on what that letter/email meant previously and what is likely to happen moving forward.

As was pointed out, there will be a coaching change after this season and I too doubt any of the existing staff will be the new head coach.  Still, I think the process will remain mostly the same, at least for a year or two.

I looked at Stanford roster and have a few observations:

1. Most players have "undeclared" major, even for most Juniors. Is this normal?

2. For players who declared major, only the following majors: Communications; Public Policy; Science, Technology & Society; Management Science and Engineering; Product Design

3. when I scroll down to the last player, I was excited to see "Engineering" as major, but clicking into his profile you'll see that he has never played a game.

I heard rumors from some other PAC12 schools that the coaches will only allow players to choose from certain majors that are "designed for athletes". Is that true for Stanford as well?

Bogey - Answers to your questions (as I said above, older son played there):

1.  Just a lack of updating the website.  Stanford requires you declare a major before junior year.

2. Same as #1.  Lack of website updates.  Majors on our sons teams ran the full spectrum - and it was not related to stars vs. bench warmers.  One of the better pitchers was an engineer and graduated with a 3.9+ GPA.  Econ was one of the more common majors.  But there were pre-med and more liberal arts majors as well.

3. See answer above.

4. Not true at Stanford.  They will allow any major that you choose.  But you better be able to get it done in the classroom - their 'minimum GPA' to play is higher than what the NCAA requires.
