All star session 1 camp question. looked around their site and info here but could not find answer. I am staying across the street at the Sheraton, son will be in dorms. Are all the fields that games are played on either within the campus or in walking distance? trying to figure out if i need to rent a car.

thanks

Well compared to Kauai it might be tough.....One of my favorite places on earth!

If you have a smart phone then use the mapping ap to help you around or rent the GPS, which will help a lot. Other trick is to use google earth to look at the HS or college locations so you can easily find where the field is.

Make sure to make a side trip up to SF!

we have tickets for Giants Reds that  Friday night, should be great. Headfirst then Stanford with MLB game in between. costing an arm and a leg but unfortunately no other options for him here.

thanks again

Awesome!!! Will be a great experience.

Now driving in SF IS difficult, but fun in a sick way. You might want to get there early and find a place to park near the stadium and then take a cab or walk down to the Fisherman's Wharf area for an early dinner. I know the locals will roll their eyes at this but you have to see it at least once.

Will be a very memorable trip, enjoy!

thanks for the suggestion. apparently there is a train that stops a block or two from my hotel in Palo Alto that goes right to the stadium. Born and raised in Brooklyn and traffic is not something i want to deal with again.

I've done a lot of both and SF is a piece of cake compared to NYC. The hills in SF can provide challenges if you drive a stick, but in NY the volume of traffic and high percentage of  maniacal taxi drivers make it much more difficult. But it's true that you can see a lot of SF without driving at all.

A lot of the games are on Sunken Diamond at Stanford, which is not a far walk from The Sheraton.  But other games are played at other fields that are relatively nearby, but you'd need a car OR take a cab.  Having you're own car would really be a better choice to give you flexibility to conform to the schedule.

If you have any specific questions, I can probably help. I've lived in the area a very long time and even worked on Stanford's campus for the last 5 years.
