"He will take the ACT in Feb. He is attending a college prep school and has a 89 average...thoughts?"

Our son had the same average and is currently going to a prep school. Contact your counselors office and find out what schools that they have personal relationships with. If a college is familiar with your schools curriculum and the type of school they are it will help in the recruiting process. Our prep school is pretty well known in the top tiered colleges and the 89 was not a question at all. Of course my son took all AP's and is fairly well rounded. Our son was recruited by some Ivy's, Air Force, Davidson,Wofford and other D3 schools such as Emory,Macalester,Merchant Marines,Rhodes. He ended up at Davidson.
My son is a sophomore in high school looking to play D1 baseball, and I have a question for the parents whose kids attended the Stanford camp. How do they select who gets accepted and who doesn't? I know it used to be invite-only, but the NCAA deemed that a recruiting violation so they had to make it open to everyone. Is it first come first serve, or do they still filter who gets in? Thanks
My understanding is that it is not strictly speaking first come first served. I've been told there is a cutoff date, and then they do a lottery if they have more applications than openings for each position.

Then they wait to see who actually confirms. Cancellations free up spots, which they fill from the waiting list. The NCAA bird-dogs the whole process, I was told.
My son attended last year as a Junior going into his Senior year.

From what I observed last year, the NCAA carefully monitors the process of how players are selected - essentially first come first served with a quota by position and by class. My understanding is 75% to be seniors and 25% to be Juniors.

The answer is get your app in asap!!!!
