Meet the Champions!!

You can help "Punch Out Parkinson's" by attending a party Jan. 12, in Fort Worth, that offers an inspiring appearance by two world-class athletes: Ben Petrick and Paulie Ayala. The funds raised will benefit a rigorous training program that helps people battling the disease.

Petrick, former Colorado Rockies baseball star, will share his inspiring story about his life since being diagnosed with Parkinson's at age 23. The author of Forty Thousand to One was recently featured on ESPN's E:60, and Petrick's testimonial is a moving story that both young and old will enjoy.

Guests at the event will get the scoop from Fort Worth native and world-champion boxer Ayala about the success that Parkinson's patients have experienced in the program he founded at his facility. Dubbed the University of Hard Knocks, Ayala's Fort Worth gym works with those battling the disease.

Cathy and Gary Schmitz, who work with a Parkinson's nonprofit called Team Fox North Texas (www.teamfoxtexas.org), said the event will be fun and help raise funds that are critically needed so the program can continue to enable PD patients get the amazing results that Punching Out Parkinson's achieves.

Scott Murray will host the family-friendly evening that includes delicious food, raffles, live music by Hill City Band and the chance to be inspired by the guest speakers.

It all happens at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Cendera Center, 3600 Benbrook Highway. Tickets for $30 can be purchased at conta.cc/UkEpgC.
