I know a lot of people say New Trier is more or less a sure thing to reach the final 8. In fact I opened my local paper today and saw a headline that read something like, "New Trier only needs 8 more wins" Now don't get me wrong I think New Trier is a great team, their record proves it. However I think in a one and done tournment the winner of today's Notre Dame-Glenbrook South game has a chance to pull the upset. ND beat New Trier early in the season and GBS played NT well this year as well (plus that's a program that in recent years has been known for pulling upsets).Anyway regardless of outcomes I think today's game and Saturday's game in that regional will be well played. Good luck to all.

Some teams that I think stand a good chance:

  • Belleville West - Tough line up and Flanagan is backed up by Otto Roberts (4-1) and Jon Schweppe (6-0) on the mound. They won't beat themselves.
  • Highland - The Champs of the Mississippi Valley, they have a very dangerous lineup and Odorizzi. When Jake pitches, they can beat any team in the state.
  • Edwardsville - Led by Todd Baumgartner who I expect to get drafted, they have a very tough lineup. If they get key pitching, they will do well.
  • Chatham Glenwood - We saw them early in the year but a very solid team. They have a lot of left-handed power.
