Anyone have any secret tips on staying cool in this heat...for the players and/or the parents?

Several things I have used over the years:
Joe Shade Umbrella (the newer version has a tilt feature)
Frogg Toggs - "Cooling Chilly Pad Towel"
O2 Cool - small battery operated fan/mister (from Walmart)
A hat
When the kids were younger we bought a bunch of cheap wash clothes and put them in a bath of ice/water in a small cooler in the dugout.

This! Even when they're older.

Yup, this and tarps w/bungee cords to put over exposed dugouts and EZ Up pop-up shade tents for parents, as well as beach or golf umbrella's for chair or bleacher sitting.

Definitely this, and remind the kids to take their caps off while in between innings. My soon to be freshman doesn't leave for a game without his Frogg Togg!
You should turn off your home AC, stop using it in the car.... You'll get used to the heat and it won't seem so bad.... or so they say.
(cheapie wash cloths or a little bigger size dish cloth in ice bucket, and lots of water)
Get the W...seems to alleviate all mention of how hot it is!
They now sell those cooling towels where you wet them and they stay cool for hours.
New car this weekend!
Soulslam55 - always true!
Common theme seems to be using cold towels. Definitely agree there! I go at this more from a football perspective, but YES absolutely have cold towels available if it's hot. Keep Gatorade and water on hand. I have recently purchased an ice chest specifically for cold towels for this fall. We used them a ton when I was in college..
Thanks for advice everyone....well, almost everyone!
Seems like you just cant do better than ice water!
Cold wash clothes in a cooler of ice and water is ok. But it's not the kind of cold you can enjoy long after you just come off of a field burning up and sweating.
A trick we learned in the Georgia summer heat that works better than anything else is go to Wal-Mart and buy a bottle of liquid Ammonia. Fill a small cooler up with some ice and cold water. Put ONLY 1 lid full of this ammonia into the water/ice and mix. It will literally CHILL the water and it is freezing. Feels great. Just be cognizant that as they wipe their face to cool off that they don't get it around their eyes or mouth.
