Anyone using SKYPE to stay in touch with there sons ?
I just talked for hours with my youngest daughter in Germany and its all free.
All you need is a web cam and speakers or a head phone. Down load the program and follow the setup and away you go.
I haven't heard anyone mention it so I thought I would.

SKYPE is the way many internationals do business. I have 3x SKYPE accounts and 5x SKYPE-in numbers and routinely use the video call function.

One of the best functions of the SKYPE-in numbers is that they can be forwarded, using the Internet, to as many phones as you wish, landline, cell, it doesn't matter.

For us, the in-laws seem much more willing to pick up the phone and dial a 312 (Chicago) area code SKYPE-in number, than to punch in another 4x numbers for an international call.

I have been using Yahoo Instant messenger. It's a penny a minute. My problem is that the connection speed here is usually too slow and the bandwidth is jammed when I want to call.

I tried to download Skype, but it is not available here in Iraq. I will be stateside shortly and will have to remember to sign up when I'm there. A lot of friends here use it and say they have no problems with the connection speed.

My bigger problem is getting the kids to pick up the phone when I call. And the time difference isn't much help, either.

"Whoa! You mean I can see them? They can't see me? I can snap photos of them? Without them knowing it? Color photos? Oh sir, just one more thing. Do you have to take 'em to FotoMat©?"
