Staying In Touch "SKYPE"

Web cam? Down load? Away you go?

SKYPE is the way many internationals do business. I have 3x SKYPE accounts and 5x SKYPE-in numbers and routinely use the video call function.

One of the best functions of the SKYPE-in numbers is that they can be forwarded, using the Internet, to as many phones as you wish, landline, cell, it doesn't matter.

For us, the in-laws seem much more willing to pick up the phone and dial a 312 (Chicago) area code SKYPE-in number, than to punch in another 4x numbers for an international call.

With that many accounts I would imagine you're quite full!

Yes I love SKYPE. My son won't turn his cam on though.
Our kids are all over the place and you can sit back and talk free of charge. I have 3 new grand kids and we can see them as they grow. It is amazing.
A year or so ago posters were talking about staying in touch. No one mentioned SKYPE.

I have been using Yahoo Instant messenger. It's a penny a minute. My problem is that the connection speed here is usually too slow and the bandwidth is jammed when I want to call.

I tried to download Skype, but it is not available here in Iraq. I will be stateside shortly and will have to remember to sign up when I'm there. A lot of friends here use it and say they have no problems with the connection speed.

My bigger problem is getting the kids to pick up the phone when I call. And the time difference isn't much help, either.

Wood man you don't need a web cam.

Infidel as long as you have an internet connection you should be able to down load Skype unless it is blocked.

Thank you Bobble. We'll look into it. And by that I mean using SKYPE...not a web cam.

Keep in mind if the person you are talking to has a web cam you will be able to see them full screen. You can also snap shots out of the video.

I used skype for the first time yesterday to talk from Madeira to Arkansas.
Great video, the video didn't synch with the voice, but it's not too far off.

I would recommend it to anyone! My webcam came with the notebook.

Nope you can email them to anyone you want. Just think of all the photos for this site.
