a quick Q? that y'all can help me with -
I saw at BA that Drew just signed a contract with a team in an independent league. they further say that he will be getting in shape for the draft

the Q? - he's been drafted twice, is 21 and has now signed a pro contract (with the ind team)

how can he be drafted??

we housed ex-college guys playing in a local independent league and when they went to an mlb organization - the mlb team bought their indy contract

thanks in advance

Bee,

I agree that it should be illegal. However it's been done before including Drew's older brother and Matt Harrington who might just hold the record for # of times drafted.

I hope it stays that way because the draft could turn into a farce if the top picks could go Independent and then sign a Free Agent contract with whoever was the highest bidder.

At least, the draft keeps things somewhat under control.
Steven Drew is hoping to showcase himself to other teams before the draft JD Drew did that it payed off. Drew has not signed a minor league contract with an affiliated club.
Drew should have signed and played with an indy team last summer. Drew has to go through the draft. People need to brush up on your draft rules

Matt Harington tried that and failed miserable
Other like Bobby Hill
it worked fine
