Stetson University is a small private school located in Deland, Florida. The enrollment is approximately 2,000 with no football team. The tuition is over 20,000 which means in the state of Florida, where lottery money can subsidize your child's education, it is a better investment to seek out the state's universities and colleges, Stetson sometimes is unable to pull from the local talent, perhaps seeking out of state players.
They do have a good baseball program and have turned out a few to MLB, but it is not a top D1.
It was our one and only junior visit last year. The town was a block long, something out of the 1800's ,IMO, I liked it, just down the road from the Daytona racetrack. However my son was not too impressed.
Their recruiting coach is now the pitching coach at Notre Dame and one of the former hitting coaches is now at Clemson.

Two friends of my son play ball at Stetson and another has signed to play next year. Parents seem to really love the place - Nice homey town where they have a great following amongst the local people. The one parent had one of the "locals" offer to have them stay there for a weekend series. Beautiful facility - strong academics & is pretty pricey. Pretty much what everyone else is saying here.

Again, all seem to be very happy.
Excellent mid-major program at a very good academic school. Two year-old ball park, a mile from the campus. Maybe the nicest locker room in the state, although I haven't been in the FSU park since they fixed it up. Four consecutive NCAA Regional appearences.

Pete Dunn has been the HC for 25+ years. The last 3 recruiting coordinators have gone to Notre Dame, Vandy and Clemson.

The team draws well and is more or less the "towns team".

As a private school, the challange for the program is competing financially for talent. They lost a good player who lost his academic ride last year. It happens at lots of place though. The success at Rice should give the HAtters hope.
A Northerners View:

Visited there last spring---excellent facility even though it is off campus

The town folk, as noted above, treat the team like their own--this was exhibited by the numerous kids seeking players autographs after the game I attended

Academics at Stetson take a back seat to no one--fine school, great environment, solid coaching
