Looking for any information on Stevens Institute of Technology. They are in NJ. Son pitched in front of of the head coach at Headfirst this weekend. Seemed like he really like my son. Son got an email from him this morning. School looks like good fit from and engineering perspective. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Fabulous academic, engineering school located in very "hip" Hoboken, NJ. It is overlooking the NYC skyline and just a ferry ride, or the Path Train away from all New York City has to offer (internships, culture, etc.). It is a D3 school, plays in the Empire 8 Conference, which is probably "middle of the road" as far as D3 schools go.

They have a new turf, multi-purpose field, which helps with the Northeast early weather. Love the new, young, and aggressive coach they hired, Kristaps Aldins. He was an assistant at Harvard for the last several years. My son has a friend in this program.

birdman is 100% correct in his review. What a great campus, fabulous education (but narrow), and the location can't be beat.

Graduates are highly sought after and well paid!!

The only 'complaint' my students who lok there is the M-F ratio. Take a look. Very few girls. Puts a unique spin on campus life, but might not be a deal breaker if the education fits.

I had a kid graduate with a double major in physics and their music technology program...he loved the experience and the access to NYC.
My son was also very interested in this baseball program after meeting Coach Aldins at a camp. Just as important, we went to a presentation put on by the school in our town. We could not have been more impressed by the academics being offered as well as the opportunities presented by going to school and living so close to NYC. I suspect that the combination of Coach Aldins and the school itself will make for a very compelling academic and athletic experience for anyone looking to play baseball and get an engineering/technical degree at the same time.
My son first interacted with Coach Aldins a year and a half ago at a Headfirst Showcase. Later my son attended the Harvard camp, which helped further develop their relationship. Although there are many who sing his praises, Head Coach Walsh at Harvard did not impress my son and it was Aldins alone (besides the possibility of getting a Harvard diploma, that is!) who kept my son interested in the possibility of attending and playing for Harvard. My son has only the best things to say about Aldins.
Congrats to Tallyson and Tallydad! Stevens has a well-desrved reputation for excellence; Hoboken is a cool, funky town (birthplace of Francis Albert Sinatra); the big Apple is just across the Hudson and only a 15-minute subway ride (the "Path") away; and Aldins is well regarded with experience in top academic environments.

TR has called it right. Within a few years Coach Aldins is going to have this program turned in the right direction.

Having been at both MIT and Harvard, he knows how to recruit the academic athletes on a national level. With the added benefit of having all NYC has to offer, literally in his backyard, it is only going to make it easier for him to attract these student/athletes. Congratulations on committing to a fine school!
