I don't agree, the coil I refer to is the coil "around" the rear hip. It's close to a circular action, though the anatomy of the hip won't allow it to be completely circular.

Your coil is a way to store potential energy in this phase of the swing. At this particular phase of the swing there are other ways to store potential energy beside coiling, although coiling is the most easy to understand through visual observation.

Yes, I suppose it is. Some call it "Gather" rather than "Coil". But there are other points where potential energy is stored, and they're equally important. You need to have all of them to whip.

What he is doing is good?

NO, but I wanted to see the back leg movement. It is a correct movement, but for the wrong reason.

Question 1) do you leg lift to coil or 2) coil to leg lift?

Well, you can do either. And good hitters do both. Kemp has more of a "Forward by coiling" approach, while Adrian Gonzalez lifts his leg with the coil.

It's fine, we're all entitled to our opinions. The eversion is caused by the rear hip coiling. I don't believe it's caused by the foot. Rather, it's being caused by the rear femur abducting and external rotation of the pelvic girdle (which causes visual internal rotation).

In my experience, I can't whoosh deep trying to use the foot.

No, I dont believe you try do both. Both things happen, but the motive for the movement can only be one or the other, leg lift or coil. Through observation, we see both things happening. But the verbal cue is leg lift, or coil. I believe leg lift is the main issue. We coil to maintain balance for the leg lift.

Adrian Gonzalez:

He is absolutely coiling to pick up the lead leg.

Ryan Braun:

Coiling to pick up lead leg.

Matt Kemp:

Coiling forward

Both are seen in good hitters. For learning, I recommend coiling first.
