hey Pat- I think the SPC North is probably going to be between Geneva and Glenbard South. But since the conference is set up with the 3 game series format anything can happen. I'd say Batavia is just behind those two. Geneva has a good core in Nick Herrara c, Brad Allen p-3b and Dan Young ss-p. Allen might be the best pitcher in the conference. I think GBS has 5 or 6 starters back from last year and add Will Hill to that for some speed. I like Batavia's pre conference schedule, we play Minooka, Wheaton South, Montini & Neuqua, that should help get them ready. But I'll leave any comments about Batavia players to someone else.
il2008,

I'd have to agree for the most part. Herrera, Young and Allen have always been good ball players and could only possible have gotten bigger and better in the offseason. You are right about the 3 game conference format. It definately makes things interesting as it did last year with 3 teams at the top till the very end.

Any underclassmen expected to play up a level on any of the other teams?
il2008,
i think you are right. I don't wanna talk trash, but I think we should be considered up in the top of the conference right along with GBS and geneva. If the pitchers can stay healthy, we should be fine. I think we have plenty of run-scoring ability. Thanks in large part to some young talent. I think Alex is gonna have a good year, I think he will adjust to varsity ball just fine. We also have an all-conference returnee in CF and 5 players returning who saw some decent time last year. I think in the end it will be just like last year, with the 3 teams battling for the title and possibly another co-championship.
cougarfan, As far as the SPC North goes, Geneva has many fine players in Allen 1B/P, Herrera C/3B, and Young SS/P who can call hit the ball very well. Glenbard South, Sycamore, Kaneland, and Yorkville I do not know much about. As for Batavia, Colin Schweigert CF (All Conference), Jack Scalcucci LF, Jason Schultz C, and Tony Gongaware P/OF/1B are all strong senior players who not alot of people have had the chance to hear of and will make a big impact this coming year. Many younger kids will may a big impact as well including Beckman 2B, and Sentman SS who are both sophomores.
