I'm a freshman in high school. I've been starting to hear about these "showcase teams". I'm very familiar with this website and all filled in on showcase events, but not showcase TEAMS, which apparently play in "showcase tournaments" and travel games. I've always known that summer teams are a must as stated in the timeline. But I feel like I'm missing something. Are showcase teams and summer teams the same? Is a showcase team better than say an American Legion team? (I live down the street from Brooklawn, who recently won the Senior Legion World Series! The town was bouncing that night!) Please someone help me with the information I am not getting!!!

Playing baseball at the highest level of competition is crucial for success.Colleges and scout want to see how you perform against quality players.Playing little league or legion will not expose you to te better talent.Just as anything else ,talent is scattered and spread out so the formation of team with kids from all over ensures better quality of play. YOU MUST find these teams and give yourself the chance to be seen against better players.

Don't the best players on Brooklawn play travel and just enough Legion ball to be eligible for the tournament? I believe it's what goes on at Boyertown.

The problem is during the Legion season you won't see enough challenging competition. And college coaches won't show up until states and beyond. Brooklawn had a team in the Marzano Scout League (don't know if they do anymore). The kids on my son's travel team hated playing them. The college coaches wouldn't show up to watch them play a Legion team.

I'm willing to bet the college prospects on the Brooklawn team are also playing for Arsenal, Young Guns or other travel teams.

I realize Brooklawn is historically a top Legion program. But Legion is dying in the area. If you choose the Legion route I heavily recommend participating in individual showcases. There's Select Fest, Atlantic 100 and Diamond Nation within a day trip of where you live. Some DN showcases are for teams. I believe there is one individual. If you have great grades Head First is on LI.

Barth is the man for Brooklawn - he is also the man for the Arsenal...pretty sure there are some options there for the boys.

Boyertown to the best of my knowledge is fully in house. i know for a fact at the 13-15 levels they play only Boyertown baseball in the spring and summer, there is some room for open ball in the fall. The legion team plays 6 days a week and sometimes 7 so i am pretty certain they play only Boyertown legion.

To be honest Boyertwon is something of a look back in time (almost cult like), they have a huge structure from 13-18 that stays in place, the coaches and managers are there for years...they keep the vast majority of the talent in house and play a full schedule at all levels. the organization is strong and committed to competition. if more legion teams had the same level of organization they would be better as well.
