Hi All

Trying to get things sorted out for the summer.  Have two questions:

1.  Will he need a car?  He is playing in the Great Lakes league in Xenia, Ohio. Right now his car is in Northern California (doesn’t need it in college).  So wondering how other families have handled and trying to figure out if I drive his old mustang to Ohio (not sure it will make it) or just let him figure it out when he is there.

2.  Any suggested questions he should ask/think about when it comes to be assigned to a host family?  Read some of the stories here about challenging situations.  Not really worried about it, but just curious if there is anything to watch for other than the obvious so a great opportunity doesn’t go the wrong way.

Our experience has been no car needed, especially if you have to drive it across country. Most teams have local kids or kids that come from drivable distances that will help out. Some host families provide transportation of some sort.

Congrats on summer ball assignment and tell him to just have fun. Focus on getting better and enjoy just playing baseball without the distractions.

Picked off has it spot on.  It is a fun time to play some ball, make new friends and see how you stack up.  Teammates looks out for each other, including transportation.  As for host families, I heard majority of them have been participating for several years, thus the organization knows if any previous problems or restrictions.  If a situation occurs you can always request another family.  Have fun and good luck
