Well, off to beautiful Lynwood, IL for a 17U wood bat tournament this weekend. Naturally, after 2 weeks of nice weather we've got rain in the forecast and temps in the low 60's. What else is new? Son's team will be missing 4 players who are still in the hunt for the State Title but I think we'll be fine. Good luck this weekend to Casey McMurray, LT, Derrick Graham, Naperville Central, Andrew Trepel and Bret Van Asdlen, Minooka.

Good luck to all the travelers this summer and safe traveling to your destinations.

2ndbasemom,

Recovering is probably a better description than recovered. He's getting there. He's thrown 2 simulated games throwing 50, and then 65 pitches. No pain, quite a ways to go as far as control and command. Playing 3rd and 1st base this summer and for that we're extremely grateful.

Bret had a terrific year for the Salukis. He earned his starting position with hard work and that has always been his trademark. Where is he playing this summer?
observer, I have always enjoyed the caba tournament and think Enrico does a great job with the tournament. Since you mentioned some of the teams I have the same question as last year. Are they doing anything about the rest of the teams? By this I mean the last year or so it seems like more and more illinois teams get a free pass to the tournament, last year there was 40 some percent of the teams from illinois and surrounding area. Which is fine if that is what you want to do, but to list it as an ultimate world series then always seems like a bit of a stretch. Even some of the teams you listed like east cobb, it really depends on which east cobb team you are talking about. Thanks
Your are somewhat correct Lineshot. However the quality of teams this year should be outstanding. Yes, there will be 30-40 percent teams from Illinois this year as well. In recent years several World tournaments have originated and are being held around the same time of the year as the CABA tournament. Notably the one in USSSA in Walt Disney World, the AAU championships in Florida, as well as the one hosted by Cal Ripken. In the southwest, the best teams usually play up in the 16u Jr. Olympics.

In summary, this is a excellant World Series which should feature quality baseball which can be enjoyed locally by everyone.

I hate Lynwood and always will. I was there the first summer that it opened and every experiece I've had is bad. However, when I saw that they played games yesterday on all fields for the 11's through the 15's, and just cancelled all games for the entire weekend for the 17's I was pissed. Our coach has worked tirelessly since then and has us playing a DH at Marian Catholic HS today. I think he got 1 or 2 of the teams that were entered to play us and is getting umps and whatever. Also, coaches from 3 Illinois colleges were here to see some games and they were upset that the games got cancelled. They will be at MC today. Personally, I'd rather walk on nails then walk into Lynwood. Boy, do I have issues.LOL.

Mike F, we have nothing scheduled for next weekend because of the PBR Showcase at Benedictine on the 16th, and many of our players will be at the Stevenson Showcase on Saturday and Sunday. Good luck to your team and have a great summer.
