The selection is Matt Latos. I can't believe that he won the honor over Glen Witkowski. Latos is 7-3 and what, throws hard and is going to get drafted. Meanwhile, Glen was 14-0 on the season and won his second State Championship this year. Maybe the players should vote the winner of this honor instead of the coaches. Can anyone convince me that Latos is more worthy than Witkowski.

Not to take anything away from whoever wins whatever newspaper award...remember it is just ink. If you look back, there are MLB players that never made honorable mention...player of year who never made it past 1st year college... And every once in a while they get it right. Pretty much like HS stats...good for the scrapbook...and first year college bios.
Catsure, you are right, it is just ink but it is a big honor to be selected "Player of the year". For some thats all they may have. Latos is a great athlete, but Witkowski is the better all-around. The Sun-Sentinel is the worst for baseball, they go to see st.thomas and nova and forget about everyone else. The sentinel had nico navarro as honorable mention after he was named first team last year, thats a joke. He was hurt the beginning of the year but finished very strong and had the big hits against the big teams this year.
