Creatine will work very well for most and not at all for some.

There will always be the critics who base their opinions on God knows what saying that creatine is dangerous, harmful, and I've even heard "deadly".

it's the most researched supplement ever besides water and sugar. There are hundreds upon hundreds of studies that prove it's safety and effectiveness.

Don't fall prey for the hype around some creatine products. Plain old micronized creatine throw into a post-workout shake or taken with a post-workout meal is plenty. No loading phases, no high sugar drinks and no grape juice needed.

As always consult with a doctor first.
No, creatine does not build muscle mass in of itself. It basically allows the user to train at a higher level for a longer period of time. That is when new muscle growth typically occurs.

When creatine use is stopped the user will usually lose some water weight as creatine does cause the body to hold some water (this is dependant on the user and greatly varies from person to person) and some strength may be lost as a result.

However, like I just said, this varies greatly from person to person. I've seen guys lose 7-10 pounds in a few weeks after stopping creatine and I've seen guys continually get stronger after stopping. I think a lot of it is mental as well, but that is just my observation.

But any new muscle that was a result of creatine use will still be there after stopping. How long that muscle continues ot be there is up to you.

Training protocols play an important role during and after creatine use.
