Thank you everyone - we appreciate it.  We did the Headfirst camp in Long Island and found it to be very helpful.  It really helps your son figure out where they stand and I think that's the most beneficial aspect of the camp.  My son liked Dartmouth, Grinnell, Swarthmore and pitched in front of Florida, Stetson and others in our area and at PG events.  That's a wide range of schools, locations and talent level and that's where Headfirst really helped.  The ones that reach out or show mutual interest help define where you may fit in.  It also helps set you apart from an academic standpoint.  In our case, we visited Grinnell in Iowa and I would highly recommend the school and the coach.  I would have been very comfortable if my son had chosen to attend.  Next visit was Philly and he felt very comfortable at Swarthmore and did an overnight with a player.  As many on this site have mentioned, there are no guarantees with D3 and admissions.  The coach talked about supporting through admissions and felt very comfortable but they are quick to say that there are no guarantees with admissions.  He went ED because he was confident that he wanted to attend Swarthmore and pitch there.  I don't remember the coach saying that he had to go ED but I do remember him saying they had only 2 kids on the team that went regular.  Our experience has been very positive and we feel fortunate that he was accepted.  He is an excellent student but I see a lot of excellent students being rejected from top schools.  I know Swarthmore doesn't compromise their standards but I also know the coaches support has weight - just how much I think depends largely on the school and their relationship with admissions.   My son played a lot of PG events, did a Top 96 and other showcases.  They all have their role in the process and I wouldn't change a thing.  But I do think the formula Headfirst has is excellent and very helpful in determining mutual interest and in guiding the players towards their ultimate destination.

Congratulations.  Swarthmore is a great school and Coach M and Coach F do a great job.  I agree with your comments about Headfirst, and it provided several academic and playing opportunities for mine.  Swarthmore was in the final two after mine decided against EDI or EDII, and was accepted Regular Decision.

Again, congratulations to your son and family.  That is a huge accomplishment and one of the best schools in the country.  Have fun during annual Florida spring break trip, and good luck in the CC, especially against Johns Hopkins which has a huge conference advantage with 3x the number of enrollment and a great coach in Coach B.

Congrats on Swarthmore!

A bunch of the D3 ED1s were supposed to come out today.  We thought we'd hear today - but he saw on the Admissions twitter account that they would release the ED1 group "later this week".   So the waiting continues here.

MKbaseballdad - That is brutal.  Been there (six weeks of ED hell) and that is no fun.  Good luck.
