OK, so some of these are duplicates... but you get the drift!

What do you think of a T-ball World Series?

What's the big deal? There are certainly a lot worse activities for kids than playing ball.

What's the magic age at which participating in a tournament is all right? Some people could find a problem with 12 year olds playing in the LL World Series.

My oldest first played in the CABA 10 and under and seemed to survive it. Matter of fact he really enjoyed it. He still remembers hitting his first home run ever against a team from Tennessee

If there were a T Ball tournament nearby I would have no problem with my 6 year old playing. I certainly wouldn't drive out of state to play but if others want to, that's ok with me.

Nuts, just nuts.

In our T ball, we keep no score, no standings, no scorebook. They play regular baseball but clear the bases every third out, and each team bats around each inning in that fashion. Batting order reverses each ining.

We have a "T Ball World Series"-the final games are played all in one evening, under the lights, we introduce the players as they come to the plate, music between innings, Bar-B-Qued chicken, etc. They have a blast and look forward to it. That's all the "World Series" T ballers need, IMHO. Just one voice....
As a VERY competitive former baseball player with a VERY competitive 16 year old high school pitcher, I say that a World Series for T-baller is INSANE!!! You cannot say that 6 year olds were clamoring for a "World Series". This is the idea hatched out of the brain of some kind of adult nut who probably never played the game as a kid. I also have a 7 year old and he has never begged me to take him out of state to compete in a World Series of T-Ball.

Whoever started this should not insult our intelligence and I agree that the USSSA ought to be ashamed for even having their logo associated with it.
Another way for someone to bring in a few bucks. "Hokieone" had the right idea. Do it locally, have a cookout, introduce each player over the loadspeaker, and let them have a blast. Don't put them on a plane and drag them around the US putting pressure on them to "do their best", at the very least let them get to where the kids are actually throwing to them before you do that!
BlueDog,

No problem. My point is that it’s not for me either but I’m not going to chastise others if they have too much money and too much time on their hands and want to do it.

I am not aware of any clinical studies but I doubt that taking a little kid to a T Ball tourney is going to turn them into a nut case or suicidal down the road.

After all, as I asked before and have still not received an answer, what is the magic age where it is acceptable by all, or by whomever is reading this?

I’m sure if someone said 9 is the magic age to take kids to a national tourney, someone would chastise them and say it’s too young, the same goes for 10, 11, 12, 13 and so on. I’m sure a lot of people would even find it strange that people are taking their teenagers across the country to play ball.

Does anyone have experience with the T Ball tournament? Maybe it’s not that cruel, kid abusing thing that people are conjuring up in their minds. After the lashing already, I’d recommend that if anyone wants to comment about their experience, they might want to come up with a new screen name.

As I mentioned, the earliest my son played in a tournament like this was a 10 year old CABA tournament. Although we lived fairly close, we played teams from Texas, Tennessee and even Puerto Rico. From what I remember, the kids looked like they were having a good time. Mine seemed to have made it through this “traumatic” event without too much scarring.

As I said, traveling to a T Ball event is not for me. I don’t need to travel half way across the country to see how bad 6 year olds play ball but I’m not going to belittle those that participate. At least not until I have seen one or at least heard comments from a credible source about how inhumane it was.

If the looser of the T-Ball World Series got free ice cream, but the winner only got a trophy, guess who would want to loose!!! I can see it now, some dad in 7th heaven because his kid's team won the whole thing, but he looks down to see his son crying. "Son, what's the matter? Gosh, look at the size of your trophy!!". The kid looks up, tears in his eyes, "Yea, but look at the size of that ice cream cone!!!".
Funny this subject is being brought up, I have been looking for a projectable left handed pitcher with power and I am willing to change diapers if the Tball prospect can throw a breaking pitch for strikes. I can't wait to show those show-off teams from Florida and Texas what Midwest Tball is all about. I would say I would meet you all in Orlando at the Tiny Tots ELITE World Series but half our kids our scared stiff of Mickey Mouse!

In all seriousness, I can't even fathom a travelling Tball team concept but if there was a Grand Gathering of Local Area Tball team's and they wanted to call it a World Series than why not?! Heck, it would give all those parents that secretly count the runs scored at their local Tball league games a chance to put their little calculators away and enjoy watching their son's play baseball instead of trying to figure out how to score correctly what happens when little Johnny runs around the bases backwards.
