A good friend of my sons was recently in an accident and will no longer be able to play the game he loves. My son recieved this text a couple nights ago:

Omitting name etc... as the family would like to remain private about this matter.

"Hey this is (Name) I know ur family is the only people that knows this. (Name) I will probably never play baseball again. All I can say I know u love baseball just as much as I do. I took it for granted now I dont have it anymore. I need u to play for both of us.

Love you bro"

Many of our boys are so blessed just to be able to play the game they love.

Players and Parents lets try our best not to take it for granted.

Amen to that!  Tragic but good to share these stories.  I won't name names or schools or anything, but I was looking back at some P data from prior years on PG earlier this week, to see who committed where, etc. and how things played out.  One ranked / high rated RHP stood out as having never committed (good size, hit high 80s or maybe even 90 early on...doesn't really matter).  I know sometimes that commitments aren't posted on PG, but I decided to look into this player (not sure why).  Turns out he was in a tragic accident on a family vacation Summer before senior year and paralyzed from the neck down.  I don't even know the young man or the family, but that hit me pretty hard.  Thanks, again, for sharing, and I hope your son does just what his friend asks him to do in that text.
