i don't know...... I still think the arguement can go either way....because the frontal part of your brain "the place where you do most all of your logical thinking" doesn't start to really develope until your later teenage years....and i know this for a fact because my fathers girlfriend has a degree in pyschology and is a woman who is the superintendent for the mentaly retarded people in her school district..... so like coach B52 said he might have had emotions running high that day and that made the kid just burst.....his emotions spoke for himself and he didn't think of what might happen.....it doesnt make it right...but it gives it another highly probable reason as to why it happened.

Will, did you read my post? I meant that I would have to throw him off of the team when I stated that I would relieve him of his obligations to the team. However, I don't accept the notion that any of my kids will ever cuss me out. I believe that I have so much invested in each of them that it would never come to that. I really can't think of a coach in our area that is more notorious for having a bad temper than I am and yet, despite getting after my kids, they all seem to respect where I am coming from. I don't know where it is out of line suggesting that the coach should evaluate themselves if a situation comes to this. I'm not perfect and I don't have all of the answers. I do know kids and the game and have been very successful dealing with both.
No showing balls would have been to suck it up like a man and shove it up the other teams ***. Then go in the dugout and talk to the coach privately like a man and tell him you didnt appreciate him saying that while you were out there battling your butt off. What he did was too easy. Anyone can loose their cool and mouth off. That certainly does not take balls.
28 Special- The worst punishment is ALWAYS benching. Players with hot tempers (I was one of them back in the day) MUST learn how to channel that adrenalin into something productive or it will haunt them in everything they do. I used to get so angry after a bad inning that I wanted to break everything in sight...but I learned to deal with it. I used to sprint to the foul pole and back after that type of inning, muttering under my breath all the way, to get my focus back.
From the players standpoint, I am reminded of a quote from the great Hoyas basketball coach John Thompson who said "If I lose my head, how will I be able to use it when I need it most?".
Can not believe all the whining here. you wouldhave thought the coach went out and hit the kid over the head with a hammer. have the players today become so thin skinned. the coach said he threw a meatball and he drove it.Should he have said great pitch? the kid says (*&^&*(*& you from the mound. what is the big deal. What has the coach have to be sorry about? the kid was wrong.
