Talking to scouts at tournaments

They are there to see you and the other players; not parents. If they want to meet parents at some point in the process, they'll approach them. Unless that occurs, the less said, the better.

I agree with Prepster. This is your gig not your parents. Enjoy WWBA, it was my favorite tournament of all tournaments along with Cooperstown.

Recruit parents should be like a good waiter at a fancy restaurant.....very much in the background but there when called upon.

"Hello" is fine.

"My son Johnny is the greatest ..." not so good.

Do scouts head to your parents' place of work to talk to them? No. Let them do their job.

I guess I didn't phrase my question very well. I didn't mean stand there and talk with them, my parents where just concerned about coming off as rude if they didn't say hello. Anyway, game is over, my parents didn't say a word. I got the win against a GA team at their high school so all is good.

also dont expect all scouts to be decked out in team apparel......

Some I know personally prefer not to be so noticed...

Domingo can show you how to play in front of a scout and how to recognize one. Even your parents can learn from the 3 time first rounder!

Saying "hello" to them in passing is perfectly fine. Good job on the 'W' today.

They can even have a conversation with them. It is not a big deal. If you are good, scouts will have an interest in you. If you are not good (by their standards) they will not. Scouts are just people, and we are talking about baseball.

Don't even worry about it, its something that will happen during the game which will be completely out of your control. The only thing you can control is your play on the field, just concentrate on that aspect and forget about what the scouts and your parents will be doing. If they like you they'll be talking to you and your parents plenty.
