Tanner is a LHP/OF for Beardstown, he'll be a PO at Wright State. He'll be joined by other 2009's from IL: Justin Kopale SS St. Rita, and Sam Picchiotti IF Oak Park River Forest.

WSU coaches are formerly from Miami (FL). They know talent when the see it. These three are going to be in a good place.

IMO, IL has stepped it up in developing and exposing players outside the state. Going forward, you'll see more out of state schools come in and get our kids.

Illinois Sparks
Cangelosi Baseball
Bo Jackson's Elite Sports (The Dome)
Tanner joined us a couple of years ago as a guest player on a couple of bigger tournaments, great player and an even greater kid! One of those kids that gets along with everybody. He also led Beardstown 2 years ago to the State Championship game..... With the addition of Sam Pichiotti Wright State definitely knows talent as well as hard workers...

jolietslammer,

The reason I mentioned the travel team is because we run big tournaments for national teams. Tanner played in our tournaments last year. Nothing against the high school, but his high school team did not play in our tournaments. We might not know who he was if it weren't for Cangelosi and the Georgia Roadrunners.
Hmmm, Fvcfan

I've been on this site for a few years and the talk has quite often deviated from HS Baseball exclusively. Most of the time it has been very imformative for HS players and their families to learn the landscape of baseball leading up to and after HS. Certainly nothing to complain about.

My son attended one PG Event which was held in lousy weather in a somewhat limited format which led to predictable disappointment in the event. Nothing that PG could have done about it, but it didn't help my kid for sure. That said, I haven't seen anything of any substance that should make PGStaff to be considered anything but a very positive contributing member of this site. His perspective is always without bias and is extremely insightful and what he has to say should be of interesst to anyone who ventures into our forum. His organization has without doubt helped many HS Players get exposure which helped them move forward with their dream. I'd say he (they) benefit HS Players in a big way.

keep it up, PGStaff

And it could be pointed fvcfan08, that you only live for the Fox Valley Conference.
But to denigrate the work done by the Perfect Game folks as strictly "travel ball stuff" is to do it a disservice. There work scouting and reporting of HIGH-SCHOOL players is what has earned them there stripes.
At any rate, Tanner is a great kid. I've had the pleasure of watching him pitch in both high school and travel ball and he has been equally effective in both. He's using a training program given to him by the RoadRunners that he really likes and he's ready for a big senior season.

fvcfan,
I love high school baseball. In fact I love baseball period. If this site were about "high school" baseball alone, it wouldn't be anywhere near as popular as it is.

Perhaps you might want to take another look at the many titles of the forums on this site. Maybe even take a look at other parts of this site. Please pay extra attention to this page... DONATE
BTW, Here was the question regarding this thread...

Tanner Howell to Wright State anybody know him?

I knew him and answered exactly how I knew him. If I had known him because of seeing him play for his high school team I would have gladly mentioned that. It just wasn't the case this time. I also know the coaches at Wright State and they aren't part of any high school either.
PGStaff, you don't have to explain yourself at all! Not only is this site about high school baseball, it is about high school aged players and their recruitment efforts, skills improvement, ... No one can possible infer your post as an attack on hs ball. Apparently few understand that the changes today make it harder and harder for a player to be recurited simply from their hs experience. This site is about doing ALL that helps players achieve success. You certainly have been and continue to be a BIG PART OF THAT!
Coach that wasnt meant to attack PG, nothing but respect for them. no conspiracy here either as bballdad has suggested?? Just wanted to point out that the board seems to be drifting farther away from hs ball that's all. The bickering among area travel teams is annoying and to tell you the truth I wish they would congregate somewhere else, because I like to read about high school baseball. I also see that PG is getting way more involved in the travel stuff per the new "ranking system for travel teams" doesn't seem that long ago when a certain organization was getting pounded here for doing that sort of thing although it was ranking kids still in diapers and now PG is plastered on their site and PG has some type of partnership with them..?? PG care to explain? Not being mean just asking? inquiring minds want to know.
Joliet...honestly why even start something like this?, now your asking PG to explain something?. PG has answered the question and answered per what he has seen. Your post has brought light to "travel teams" and now you need to know why PG decided to rank them? WHO CARES!!!!!!

PG does a great job at what they do and again to be honest WHO CARES if the kid gets credit or a little pub based on his travel team or his HS team???? it is about them not you or one particular coach or organization.

By the way..I have been to 9 signings in the last two weeks and have two this week, and every HS coach at the signings has asked me to take a picture with him and the player. At least here the HS coaches are not in competition with us. IT IS ABOUT THE KIDS.
Thn, not every post is meant to draw blood, just asking a relevant question. I also think it's too early to have midwest kids firing it up for the guns in Minny, come on a kid hitting 97 which I doubt, but come on where were the coaches to tell him to go easy? I have no prob with PG just asking a question on a message board created to discuss relevant topics?

I don't mind explaining what we do and why we do it. I'm just not sure what you are asking me to explain.

WE don't rank kids in diapers. WE are not partnered with anyone who does. WE are ranking Travel Teams. WE also rank HIGH SCHOOL players and teams, College Players and teams, Junior College Players and teams, Summer College League Players and Teams, Draft prospects, etc.

Everything that WE rank can be found on pgcrosschecker. If you go there, you will see, WE do not rank kids still in diapers. If we did, I have a grandson who would be ranked right up at the top. Smile Maybe not... He might get a big head and he's already half head! I know he's not burnt out yet because he won't start playing for another 7 or 8 years.
jolietslammer,

YES, we have a "relationship" with Travelballselect and we don't see anything wrong with that?

We are listed on many websites. Guess I didn't know that travelballselect was listed on ours. If they are it wouldn't really bother me. Are they?

Understand that the travelballselect of today is not the same as the travelballselect of the past. They do have new ownership.

My nose is starting to twitch again.
