Was he wearing a Met jersey? Big Grin

Now that right there, I don't care who you are, that right there, that's funny!

I have tears rolling down my cheeks from laughing.

Skip I know what you're talking about but I haven't paid that much attention to it. I'll be looking now.

What if the Mets get Ryne Sandberg as their new manager?

I'm a Cubs fan and most talk I've heard is they may go after Girardi and if they can't get him then they would probably give Sandberg the shot. I hope it's Sandberg because I've never liked how Girardi uses his pitching staff and last night was evidence of that. Give the new guy a chance. Plus Sandberg was my favorite player growing up. He is the reason why I wanted to be a second baseman......but my range put me behind the plate.
Cubs management screwed Sandberg. They basically told him four years ago to get some MiLB experience managaing and he would get the job.

How many HOF players willingly go back to low A, ride buses alongside their players and spend four years working their way back up through the minors?

And Sandberg got more than experience; he succeeded in both developing players and winning games in A, AA and AAA.

The Cubs will regret their decision.
Okay, I think i just saw the graphic again, and:
a. They flipped it back to correct
b. my tv is the only one it was flipped backwards on
c. Arby's put a little "something" in that Jamocha shake i picked up at the drive-thru last night!

in the case of:
a. you are welcome, i pointed out for free
b. I am sorry that I wronged you in any way
c. I'll be back between games tonight for that special "something"
I was going to post how in the world did I miss the Cubs hiring someone but I know the answer - coaching football. I have no idea what goes on when I'm coaching either sport. Funny thing is I don't even really like coaching football but I do it because my school knows I can so they more or less make me. But although I don't like it I'm going to treat it just like baseball - my world shuts down except for teaching and coaching.

Yes they just screwed Sandberg. He was the one I was hoping they would hire because of the success he's had at all the levels.

Ryne Sandberg

And why is Ryne Sandberg qualified to be a big league manager?

Why is anyone? Experience at the bigs doesn't guarantee success. (see: Wedge) I suppose it's like most exective job...the intangibles sometimes count the most.

My initial comment about Ryne in this thread referred more to how he was induced by Chicago to work in their farm system, prove himself, climb the ladder and the big club job would be his.

Now there are those who will point to his ability to be a d!ck at times, but name a manager who doesn't share that trait.

Ryne did as he was told and was very successful while doig it. He properly juggled his responsibility to develop young players and win games at every level.

He will be a manager, maybe not this coming season, but for sure by the next.
