My '09 son was recently invited to attend one of the four Team One Previews being held across the country. They are only accepting 40 players for this event. Players will have a pro-stye workout and play simulated games in front of Team One scouts. Apparantly there are NO college scouts at this particular event. Players will find out if they have been selected to compete at a Team One Summer Regional Showcase. In addition, players may be selected to compete on a UNDER ARMOUR National Tournament Team, and participate in other events including the Baseball Express Cape Cod High School Classic, as seen on MLB.com and ESPNU. This annual game features the 36 best rising juniors and seniors in the nation. Cost is $199.

Has anyone here got an opinion on this specific "preview" run by Team One? I know Team One is a good oranization, but is this "preview" more of a money maker for them? Also are their showcases made up of pretty elite talent since they claim the players have to be "selected"?

My son attended Team One maybe 10-12 years ago and we found the whole thing to be most excellent. Yes, it's a money maker for them but they delivered what they promised. I recall probably 150 scouts as well as at least 75 college coaches reperesenting all levels(I found myself sitting directly behind Jim Morris and to the left of Sunny Galloway who was at **** Roberts at the time). Players were timed in the 60, pitchers threw a couple of innings and hitters had ample swings. Their way of doing that was most creative I thought. My son came away with offers, eventually signed with a college and earned his degree. Would that have happened without Team One? Probably, but the experience of meeting different people,(he played against some in college and summer ball that led to friendly conversations), as well as facing/being teammates with good players was valuable I think. To be honest, I can close my eyes, look back on that and my heart still quickens. Good luck!!
Team One run by Jeff Spelman was totally different. How it was run and the talent level.

Baseball Factory bought them out a few years ago and the talent level has dropped alot. Not bad but no where as good as it once was. It is really baseball factory now. Team One in name only, not in organization , staff, or talent level.

One more thing 10 year ago, there was alot less competition for ball players. Area Code Games,East Coast Pro Showcase and Team One National were the best showcases.

Now Area Code Games,East Coast Pro Showcase, PG National , AFLAC and WWBA World Championship draw the best players.
