There is no elevator to success. You have to take the stairs. Keep grinding Tebow!!
Great interview with Stephen A Smith!! Very inspirational. The only time I have ever seen Stephen A Smith at a loss for words. Tebow, regardless of how he plays baseball, has always had the ability to come up with inspirational words for young athletes. Dream on , but work like hell and give it all you got . If you fail then you will have no regrets. The cowards are the ones who wont even try.
I wish Tebow well, but nobody is doing him any favors throwing him in the deep end of the pool. It's a business. He is an employee.
Love it when Stephen A Smith is at a loss for words.....it is the only time I'll listen to him. ;-)
2 sport athlete? Man, that's just crazy talk. It's never been done before. Right?
Love Stephen A Smith! Everybody slould be that passionate about their job.

I dont know of any pro ball player who could leave one job (that he is not doing very well at) on a Friday and go do another job on Saturday and then turn around the next to go back and do the job again that you arent very good at, while pushing your new book all at the same time. Is that giving it your all your best effort.
The only thing that proves is that this opportunity was given to him because of who he is, it wouldn't apply to the average joe.
Inspiring for him yes, realistic for others no.
I think your evaluation of the human race may be a little off if you consider him average. You are right. It is because of who he is. I am an average Joe and I can not do what he does (on or off the field).

Absolutely who he is, thats my point. Lets let the little guy have those opportunities.
Question for you. How would you feel if your son worked his ass off to reach a certain level in his organization, ranked top 30 but passed over for someone who got the opportunity just because he was famous? Thats also about 3500-5000 dollars in 5 weeks to make up for that not so great bonus and to subsidize his meager salary.
The parent of a black baseball player that has been subjected to that behavior every since age 5 but kept playing. He has grown into a really good baseball player who didn't let his surroundings determine his outcome. I hope your son don't get sidetracked and enjoy the journey.

I think that's called a life lesson. Happens every day. Happened to me and put me on a different path. It sucks, but if you get angry and bitter over it, you just become angry and bitter. That opportunity was made through hard work and networking. Everyone can learn from it, both on and off the field.

He'd have to be a one-sport athlete before he could be a two-sport athlete.
...10 pages of comment on this site for this topic on this this guy. Gotta be something here, man. Love him or hate him, people love to talk about him. I hope he keeps grinding hard. If he isnt good enough, let the chips fall where they may. I hope others are influenced by his level of effort. I suspect when it is all over with in baseball, he will still do better than alright. Same message I am giving my son.
I dont dislike him. I dislike the situation he has been put in.
Remember that this is the same system that you all complain exploits players by not paying them enough and also has been accused of nepotism, that would be drafting children of players and staff of organizations when someone else deserved it more.
Okay. Let's get down to brass tacks. Who is the player that is getting denied his shot because of Tim Tebow?
It was a hpothetical that happens, often.
Maybe you just dont know how it all works.
No. I just am a little tired of stringing up the Mets by a hypothetical. I don't like dealing in hypotheticals because they are often used to construct a way too perfect scenario for the hypothetical maker, and don't actually deal with reality.
Let's deal with reality. Whose being denied? I want to be able to look at the real life facts and come to a decision.
Hypotheticals are inherently biased.

Why is he famous? Because in your words.....he worked his ass off. Everyone at that level worked to get there. My son's playing days are over, but I promise you none of my kids blamed someone else for their lack of success. Your evaluation is that he is not one of the top 30 players. Many qualified to make that call, even those not associated with that program disagree. So his being there kept 1 guy back..... well that guy should have been in the top 29 and he would not have to worry about being on the roster.
The system is MLB and how it works in relation to manipulting players. Not necessarily the Mets.
Do you know anything about the AZFL and how it can impact a players future right before the rule5 draft or for trade? Or maybe why they send some guys and not others who might actually better future prospects?
You obviously dont.

He is definetly there for a reason, but its not because he is a top 30 prospect.

Is this supposed to be directed at me, or D8?

A reply to asking who the player is, did anyone ever mention there was a specific player?
