We follow LC State's Tee Philosophy....We use home made tees that only sit at the top and the bottom of the zone and can be adjusted to the different locations. The theory behind this is a hitter SHOULD be able to drive a pitch that is down the middle but the average player has problems with the high pitch and the low pitch so that is what they focus on and that is what we focus on. I couldn't be happier.

IMO, this is what the tee should be used for and is a very good tool for that purpose. Master this then move to front toss, then BP.
PTF: Your right but how often does that happen....most tees are set up belt high. In fact when we first made the tee and I compared it to the tees we had been using sure enough the other tees were right down broadway. The other problem is most tees are cheaply made and 1) they do not go that high and 2) they sit above the bottom of the strike zone.
I will try

One that we have done to get the hips firing is to get in your finished stance(as if you just finished your swing).Hips opened and put the bat on the edge of your shoulder.Rotate the hips back(creating torque) and fire the hips while keeping the bat on the shoulder untill you are ready to hit the ball and then letting the swing go.

I assume this is an epstein drill,my son's instructor uses this and he teaches the Epstein approach to hitting.

I like some of the Epstein drills on the T.

BUT,we do mostly front toss.

look into the smaller ones for your 10 year old, I have heard they work great for younger ages.

As for Coach Byrd, check this video out and see how they use some drills, they could be used on a tee.

One thing that i do everyday is hit off the tee. It helps me out a whole lot. Work on your top and bottom hand drills. Along with that work on hitting inside pitches, outside, and down the middle in all different locations. & you will see a result in your swign it will feel alot smoother. I attented a texas ragners camp with our high school and michael young was a guest speaker he said he hits maybe 65-80 balls a day no more than that. You will tend to get tired and start developing bad habits.
