That is all that needs to be said.

I was actually surprised that there were not more "outlandish" stat lines for the offense. I know 4 - 6 with 2 HR and 7 RBI (I that was Saltamacchia) is awesome but it seems to me there would be a 10 - 10 in there somewhere.

Also, the guy who got the save might want to decline it. I know he earned it legally but really he might get a hard time in the clubhouse for that one.

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude. Thomas Jefferson

Fortunately in HS baseball, we most often have mercy rules which kick in to keep this from happening to a great degree....be it 10 runs or 15 runs........

I have been involved in many blow outs over the years.....As the umpire, I do not change my zone to assist, I do try and call strikes, but altering the basic game is not ethical to me.....

I do not advocate any team "calling off the dogs" until they reach those preset levels.......You play hard, you play to win....you play the game as it is meant to be played.

Once the score has reached those levels, I do believe its time to teach sportsmanship. I have seen some classy teams and coaches stop stealing bases, stop giving signs, stop advancing on passed balls, pulling the starters..etc........that does not mean that the mismatch will not lead to more run differential.

I always hate to see these games as no one learns anything.......and often someone gets hurt.....once the game gets ridiculus the play can get sloppy.......sloppy play can lead to injury.....

I don't get this comment. The Rangers were not stealing, and if you saw the highlights, they were hacking at everything the pitchers were flipping up there...they got 29 hits. In my opinion, you still focusing on hitting the ball hard, regardless of the situation.

Why should a Ranger hitter get drilled because the Oriole pitchers aren't any good?
I didn't make the comment or that I agreed with it. Only reported what I heard.

He also stated that in times past, someone would have been on their backsides. Maybe they were a little too comfortable in the box.

Even though I'm a pitchers parent, I've never advocated throwing at someone because they hit you. Not to say I wouldn't throw a purpose pitch. Wink

I understand it wasn't your comment. My thoughts were really more general in nature as I have heard this before.

I have never understood drilling a batter on purpose because he was successful at the plate. If he taunts the pitcher or showboats in any way, run one under his chin. But just because he hits a home run, or several string together hits, why plunk someone? Pitch inside if you want, but there is a difference.
